ACGM Report out to Clubs and Members‏

There were many exciting developments at this year’s Skate Canada Annual convention and General Meeting that will have an impact on our members, clubs and schools.

    1. Updated 2010 version of Skate Canada logo

    2. Clubskater.com – a tool to help sections, clubs and schools create new, unified websites

    3. New Board Governance structure approved

    4. Rule Amendments and Regulations

    1. Take a look at the updated 2010 version of logo that was approved by our Board of Directors. You can see how the logo has evolved through the years, and the 2010 version gives it a modern, upbeat look that works well with today’s electronic
world. You’ll start seeing this logo on all new Skate Canada material that is produced starting later this week. The logo also can be modified to be used by Sections and clubs. Take a sneak peak through the link on the welcome screen in Members only.

    2. Along with the updated logo, a new tool has been designed to help sections, clubs, schools and even individual teams and skaters to develop a country-wide network of websites with a consistent look and feel. The tool allows clubs to personalize
their site with individual content, and also access information that will be generated nationally from our skatecanada.ca site. To see how the new site design can be applied to a section, visit www.clubskater.com/skatealberta to see how content from the existing site at http://www.oakvilleskatingclub.org/ has also been transformed to www.clubskater.com/oakvilleskatingclub

More than 30 groups — sections, clubs and even one team — have already registered to use this tool. You can register to have a new site developed at www.clubskater.com

Stay tuned for more information about the Skate Canada digital strategy, which fits all of these electronic pieces fitting together to truly create a unified network of skating sites across the country. It will roll out over the summer and into the fall
    of 2010.

    3. We made history at our AGM on Saturday by passing an amendment that will reduce our board from about 34 members to 14 people when elections will roll around next year. Although it has been discussed for many years, it was the input and
leadership of many people across the country working together to successfully develop this new structure. Congratulations to all members for creating a truly historic moment.

    4. Rule Amendments and Regulations

The amendments dated February 28, 2010 were passed by the membership at the AGM. The three amendments to the amendments (dated April 30, 2010) were also passed. Information on technical regulations that were passed at the May Board of Directors meeting
can be found on Members Only under Technical and Programs, Rules. This update includes decisions on the application of CPC at STARSkate and Adult competitions, CPC Official Regulations and competitive program restructure update.
